RL: The GOP refusing to hold a hearing on Obama's SCOTUS nom and then blasting full speed ahead with Trump's.

Fandom: Alolan Raichu existing, being horrible, and basically nixing any chance I might have had of getting a badass Mega Raichu. :(

What's horrible about it? I like it. But then I know Raichu is your favorite so the stakes were higher for you.

ALOLAN RAICHU IS AWESOME

I love the way it floats while sitting on its tail.

Not only that, but the "surfing" stance plus Blue Eyes are SUCH a shout out to that one episode of the original anime with the older pikachu who used to surf with her master.

I've never liked cutesy Raichu.

So it took me several years to come to the realization that 99% of people who like Raichu, like it because it's cute. :/ That's never been why I liked it. I liked it because it was powerful. I liked Lt. Surge's Raichu. I have nothing against cute Pokémon, but the contrast of a more powerful, focused, and badass counterpart to Pikachu always appealed to me. Instead apparently it's supposed to just be Cute 2.0. Add to that the fact that in spaces where I use Raichu or some variant of it as a handle, people get the wrong impression about me and my personality because they assume I think it's cute and lump me in with everyone else who uses cute animals/characters/etc. as handles (again, not that there's anything wrong with that, but it's really not me, at all).

Even as far as cute Pokémon go, I don't think they did a good job with Alolan Raichu. It just looks...weird to me.

And I have wanted a Mega Raichu since they introduced Megas. An Electric/Dark Mega Raichu would have been a dream come true...

Makes sense. I'm sorry you didn't get your Dark Mega Raichu.

Though personally, I actually also liked Raichu before because it was powerful, but now I like the Alolan one because I think it's cute, so . I don't know where that sentence was going. My brain is a little fuzzy from fever.

Gack, fever?!? Oh no :( :(

I'm actually a little frustrated because my temperature is exactly 98.6, which is a fever for me because my usual temperature is much lower. But I'd feel better if I had a fever by a normal person's standards. I'd feel less like I'm just making excuses while I keep getting distracted from this paper I need to write.

and you might feel mentally better but probably physically worse! It sounds distracting and unpleasant, and I hope it goes away soon.

Generally it's somewhere between 96.5 and 97.

I know it's ridiculous to wish I was worse off, but I have these really strong paranoid fears that people think I'm lying every time I say something is wrong with me and that's why I couldn't do something. Actually the fear that people think I'm lying comes up a lot more than that, but it's the worst when it's about me being sick.

People suck sometimes...because there are people who would think you're lying. But obviously that's on them.

I hadn't heard of someone's core temp normally being that low. Do you get hot easily?

I'm not really sure how to answer that. On the one hand, I hate heat and summer is my least favorite season and I'm happiest when the temperature is in the mid-60s, but I also feel cold a lot because of bad circulation. Though the cold seems to come from inside while the heat bothers me when it comes from outside. If that makes sense.

My low normal temperature might run in my family. My mom says my grandmother was the same way.

Dark wouldn't happen to be a slight ref to Pokemon MASTER would it...? Cause that old fanfic made me want a Dark Pikachu for YEARS. And I LOVE the new Raichu. :C

It's OLD, so giving you that warning right now. And the guy who was writing it wrote it when his skills were still growing. There is a HUUUGE difference in skill from the first few chapters through chapter 11 (where he ended up on a long...4-6 year hiatus i think). The last two chapters are written fairly well.

If you don't mind some tropiness and don't mind some amateurish early writing, it's pretty good. Dark though.

Have to read it through the Wayback Machine though as the website itself is kind of now lost to time.
