Hollis is a quirky name? Huh. I guess I don't think that because I grew up with a Hollis.

Also, the names separated by political leanings are exactly what I would expect.

I am partial to more 'masculine' names for both boys and girls.

I think Hollis is much more common in the South than in other regions.

I've never met a Hollis in real life (though I read a book where a character was named that), but it's a very nice name.
