Should I let it go?

(Anonymous) 2017-03-05 10:40 pm (UTC)(link)
I posted a couple days ago on here about a work problem.

Basically someone took my box cutter that I have had for 3 years. I asked around about it and the three people that could have taken it said they did not have it. One of them has been known to take other people's shit without asking and not returning it.

I was really pissed off about it Friday/Saturday. Today I am a bit calmer. So, should I let it go and try to find another knife or make a big deal out of this?

This is a job I really hate (it pays the bills) because I have been stuck doing a job I did not get hired for for months). And the person who probably took it is a co-worker I can't stand (she cheated at our current weight loss challenge by drinking a couple bottles of water before weigh in).

Will making a big deal out of this accomplish anything significant? If not, I'm not sure you have much of a choice. Personally I'd snoop around to see if I could find my "lost" boxcutter, and I'd mark my new boxbutter (and any other stuff I don't want stolen) prominently with my name or some other thing that makes it stand out. And sorry, but you're going to have to be a lot more careful about leaving small, portable things lying around.

Wait, how would drinking water help her? Wouldn't that just make her weigh more at weigh-in and thus lose the challenge?

On topic, I'd let it go. Keep an eye out incase you actually see your knife, but dude it's just a knife let it go and move on. I mean I get it, but *shrug* I say let it go.

You drink water (about a pound per bottle). So you weight 2-3 pounds more than you normally would. Use the bathroom and most of that water weight is gone by the end of the day.

Let it go. Especially if you've fussed about the weight loss thing before, fussing about this now will just get you branded as the neurotic nightmare coworker absolutely no one wants to deal with.

I've not fussed about the weight loss thing. We've not weighed in for the final weigh in.

The answer is yes.
