That's interesting, I haven't been keeping with the Kubo/creators interviews and official comments and such. I do admit I think Yurio needs to be "humbled" just a bit. While I think how he pushes himself and his mad dash for success is really interesting to watch, he's also a little asshole over the vast majority of the season, and he's only 15 so theoretically has plenty of time to remain competitive. Not trying to say I dislike Yurio's character, because I don't, I just think the storyline would be more interesting if we see his fall, or at least some other major setback or limitation to his talent.

One of my favorite scenes though is early on in the show, I think it's when Yuri and Yurio are training to compete at the Hasetsu ice castle and there's this really lovely but powerful montage with Yuri saying he doesn't know how much longer his body will hold out, and figure skaters are only competitive for a short period. Then you see their feet covered in bruises, and it's like, oh shit. That's why I think it'd be interesting to injure a character (preferably Yurio, who I think is the best set up for that storyline, or else an older character who pushes themselves beyond their physical limits... possibly Victor?)

I am glad that they don't intend to focus solely on Yurio though. He's interesting, but not more interesting than Yuri. Plus, Yuri is easy to like. It'd be hard to follow Yurio around because his personality is really bratty, which is acceptable for side characters but irredeemable for protagonists.
