LOL, I feel that way about Great British Bake Off, OP. Fortunately, GBBO publishes quite a few of their recipes online so I try to motivate myself to replicate some of their dishes at home. Any chance Cupcake Wars does the same thing?

I kind of feel similarly about those home shows (like Property Brothers, Fixer Upper, etc.) because I love those homes but know I'll never have one. Still, I watch.

I kind of love it, since most of those foods are ones I can't eat anyways, as someone who can't eat dairy.

I hate Cupcake Wars, and I generally love cooking shows. A whole show based on combining different flavors of cake and frosting is too much. The only thing worse is possibly Donut Wars. GBBO is where it's at.

If it was a show about cooking main course dishes, I'd probably share your wish to taste the food, but cupcakes just put me off because of the pile of frosting on top of them. My sensitive stomach wouldn't be able to stand it.
