I'm glad for you too, anon. And I like this secret because Pokémon is one of those fandoms I will always go back to, and I have a friend who has said this specifically to me before (and she has also had issues with past fandom friends making some fandoms difficult to enjoy).

I'm really curious as to what happened with your friend, but of course you don't have to talk about it. Either way I'm glad you're away from them, it sounds like they were not good for you.

Actually relevant now cos old fandom friend messaged me today! Basically, I just got into a very unhealthy relationship w/ someone who used me for cyber sex and to boost their ego etc for about 3 years so now I can't look at a lot of fandoms we shared without feeling kinda blech. But Pokémon is always mine and will always be my happy place from now on! c:

and while I've never been in that specific situation I also definitely empathize with having people you wish to avoid/leave in the past message you out of the blue.

I hope you can reclaim the fandoms that you care about and/or find new ones that have nothing to do with this person!
