Sure, 'cause everyone just randomly gets over their unresolved suicidal ideations. That's definitely how suicide and trauma works.

When he expressed that desire to die he had literally just found out that the women he loved had been murdered. There's no reason to expect that 10 years later he still feels the same.

I've struggled with suicidal ideation for seven years after my best friend was killed in a drunk driving accident. It doesn't go away.

I'm sorry that this happened to you but that is one anecdotal story and there's no reason to suppose it applies to Snape.
