The only remake I would want to see would be animated. Honestly, Studio Ghibli would do a pretty good job of it.

It's been a while since I read the book but isn't his name important? They made a point of giving his full name a few times.

there are some things I loved about Spirited Away but the girl in it was so thoroughly obnoxious that I'd find it hard to sympathize with seeing someone like that getting bullied.

And yet, Diana Wynne Jones adored it. Sometimes things are different, but still good.
