6) Offering some wannabe cosplay advice here, so I'm not a super expert, but you can always get a dressform, adjust it to your measurements, and draft the pattern yourself out of tissue paper and use it like a regular pattern. There's also a pattern making software that has something like you draw the sort of thing you want and it'll draft a pattern you can print out. They're both super expensive though. D:

Hmm. Can't really afford a dressform... not to mention I'm not sure what that is. One of those mannequin-like things? Anyway... I can't even find patterns for long coats to modify. :/

Yeah, it's a mannequin costume makers use. Personally, I'm horrible at using them.

And I'm sure if you look in Halloween stuff, you could find some labcoat costume patterns to modify? D:

If it comes to that, I have a spare labcoat could take apart for a pattern, but I dunno how well it'd work. Reeve's coat is going to be a BITCH to figure out. I still wanna try, though. XD

Yeah, they're the mannequins, and they're above $75 or so; you'd be lucky if you found a good one under $100. As for long coat patterns, Simplicity 5836 is a good place to start. :3

[identity profile] liltigre.livejournal.com 2007-02-21 03:33 am (UTC)(link)
... the Simplicity website doesn't have a match for that pattern number. D: I'd have to skip the mannequin, I can't afford that. XD Maybe the coats section'll have something I can fiddle with, though... thanks for the tip!

...durrrr, I am dyslexic. It's 5386. XD;

<3 It's OK. 5311 shows promise, too, since the design has to have a Mandarin-style collar. The bell sleeves are gonna be a bitch, but... I'll figure something out. maybe. XD

*salutes* Good luck!
