I always think this way of thinking is so damn condescending and anti-feminist. Always sounds like women are all those harmless little idiots who can only act in ways the big bad men allow us to and have no damn will of our own.

Sorry, anon. Didn't mean to come across that way as I'm definitely a feminist and can't stand condescending people. It was just meant to be a short answer to something that could easily be the topic of a million essays which I'm too tired to write. tl;dr I don't think women are harmless idiots who have no will, but I'm kinda saying that that's what the men in power have pretty much assumed for centuries and they have damn well tried to enforce that in their laws & their literature.
