This isn't something unique to patreon, or even art in general. A merit based system would be nice, but the real world has never worked that way.

And instead of harping on Sakimichan for making 30 grand off patreon, I think a better question to ask is how she got those numbers in the first place, and also how she's managing to keep it. She's obviously doing something right if people are finding something worth paying for.
