Slightly inspired by number 1, share some musicians that you have recently discovered!

I recently discovered some great jazz/rap artists!
Clear Soul Forces!!! So smooth and I love their lyrics and style and beats.

Hawk House, I looooove their flow. Their UK style works so well with their beats.

Ooh that was me! I'm so glad you're into him, he's excellent. I also happen to be the OP of the John Moreland secret :D

Discovered Postmodern Jukebox at my weekly pub trivia quiz--they did jazz/swing/blues covers of pop songs--and used PMJ for all of them. I've liked most of what I've listened to, though I really didn't like their cover of Hozier's Take Me to Church. Didn't like the arrangement or the voice of the singer they chose for it.... I'm still discovering their stuff.

PMJ is hit or miss. Some of their covers are fantastic. Style (Taylor Swift) is amazing. And Black Hole Sun is imo better than the original. And Gangsta's Paradise really highlights the lyricism and emotional depth.

But then, if you follow them closely you start to realize that at least half their stuff is just super generic "we found an old timey sounding singer and replaced the music with trombones and ragtime piano, even if it doesn't fit the song or theme at all". And it's like, guys you can do so much better than that. :(

But I love them anyway.

Not so much a recent discovery, but The Half Earth. It's such a lovely style, both the pre-recorded with synths and reverb, but also more of the raw live vocals.

I'm also rediscovering how much I love goth.

I tried out Priest and their song The Pit, just today. I liked it well enough, but with all the wank and conflict surrounding Priest and Magna Carta Cartel vs Ghost, I feel really uncomfortable.

I found Alexander Rybak. I also found that non-European HTTYD fans were robbed of a great song

I've known about them for a while, but I'm only just starting to get into Shonen Knife--super-cute Japanese power pop, been together over three decades, I think.

"Explosion" is a really good track: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=y-CR1gBZ4Pg

They also did a rockin cover of My Bloody Valentine's "When You Sleep": https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8jN8SII8ytI
