Re: Fandom Venting

(Anonymous) 2017-03-27 11:45 pm (UTC)(link)
Yeah, doing this in the Sunny fandom is really ...something else. Some people have no self-awareness, it seems. I'd also say ignore them and block/blacklist them if they get too annoying.

My vent is a bit on the petty side: I'm not even that deeply involved in the Adventure Zone fandom but I do get a lot of fanart thrown on my dashboard and... dear lord. There is this one person who really stuck a branch in the hornets' nest by complaining about people drawing Taako fat and she is a bit dumb about it. But I can really, really understand what her issue is.

There were those memes a while back about drawing overly "inclusive and progressive characters" and some of the designs I've seen for Taako really remind me of the abominations from those memes. It's really almost as if the "artists" try their hardest to make the designs as ridiculously OTT SJW-compatible as possible, but they do it entirely unironically and some of the results look downright grotesque. And it's basically a giant circlejerk because they keep gushing over each others' grotesque designs all the time. It's actually kind of hilarious.
