Not a job, but my volunteer work. Got bit by a cat about a month ago at this point. Other people seem weirded out that I feel bad for the cat who is still in quarantine and am totally not phased by being bitten. The cat is FIV positive and wants things he can't have (mainly walking on the ground where he isn't allowed to be). So he bites. He's bitten a couple others too. I feel bad for him. Is that weird?

I don't think that's weird, but I seem to be completely incapable of getting mad at an animal so maybe it's that we're both weird.

This is me too. And the poor thing just looks so miserable in quarantine. I understand why it is necessary. But still. He deserves to find a home too. He's a big, ornery little cat, but that doesn't mean he can't find himself a home. He's a big orange thing and is adorable. I'd adopt him if I was allowed to.

Aww, yeah, I'm with you. I was the kid that went around petting stray cats, and when my parents freaked out about me occasionally getting bitten, I would wail about how the cat just got scared or didn't know how to play gently since it didn't have a home. In retrospect, I probably have rabies. But I still love all the cats ever.

Yup. Cats are the best. I love dogs too. Animals in general. I'm the person who baby talks to animals in other people's cars who can't possibly hear me. And this poor little kitty has had a rough life. I wish I could adopt him.

OP also doesn't think it's weird. Poor baby. :( What his prospects for finding a home?

I don't know honestly. I think they have people who can work with him, so hopefully it will happen eventually. He's a big cat, which can make it harder to find him a home, but he's orange, and orange cats are popular. And he's already sweet unless you don't let him do something he wants.

DA

I have a cat who is my best pal, but she's getting older. I don't know if I'd ever want to be catless, I think maybe I'll adopt an older cat again someday. The older cats always seem so miserable in shelters, and lots of people want kittens.

Plus there are often sad reasons like an older owners health issues, etc, that have nothing to do with the cat.

It's hard to blame a cat for something like that, I agree. 🐱
