Harry/Ginny.

JKR tried not to make her perfect near the end of the series, but when you only see her through Harry's eyes mostly and the series has rewarded it's 'fiery and brave' heroes...yeah, it didn't happen. Never was sold on it, but I think they're both capable by themselves.

It COULD have been lovely, if we...ever got to see it....

(Still bitter I never got to see Harry being the lamest awkwardest boyfriend evah)

The thing about Harry/Ginny is I just don't understand why it needed to happen. I didn't feel like it contributed anything significant to the story.

Harry got the family he always wanted with his Wife-Mother Lookalike.

Which still makes little sense because he was a Weasley in all but name.

See that's the thing, I think it would have been more significant if it was just about his family he made through his adventures. But then I don't need to know that any of them got married or had kids, I rarely ever like "and then they grow up and get married" epilogues.

i always thought ginny was in love with the idea of harry, the boy who lived, not the actual person

and that didn't seem like a recipe for anything good

The basis for Harry/Ginny was always shaky at best to me, given her enormous hero worship crush and his not even seeming to acknowledge her existence until she started dating other guys.

This. That's why I was so vehemently against it. I just didn't...ugh.

I also hated Ron and Hermione's "bickering as signs of love" because....some of that "bickering" was down right nasty. I'll never really get over her throwing birds at him as I thought that was just...WAY too much.

I was never able to get myself to read HBP, but from everything I know about it, the whole romance seems very unconvincing. But then I have also got the impression that most of the romances that had at least some seen on-page were unconvincing (Bill/Fleur escaped because theirs was almost totally off-page).

Yeah I never understood how this was supposed to be appealing.
