(Anonymous) 2017-03-30 11:13 pm (UTC)(link)- Definitely Mitch and Cam from Modern Family, and it wouldn't surprise me if the secret was referring to them. I actually think they would work better as a new couple (like I said in a comment), because then I could at least see it as them trying to get "used" to their differences.
- Rachel/Ross from FRIENDS. They were horrible to each other. Monica/Chandler was the better of the series, if you ask me.

JKR tried not to make her perfect near the end of the series, but when you only see her through Harry's eyes mostly and the series has rewarded it's 'fiery and brave' heroes...yeah, it didn't happen. Never was sold on it, but I think they're both capable by themselves.

(Anonymous) 2017-03-30 11:47 pm (UTC)(link)It was like a series-long strategy to give her a boyfriends so boring that a literal beige blob would seem charismatic in comparison.

(Anonymous) 2017-03-31 12:02 am (UTC)(link)Clark/Lana in Smallville. I just find them incredibly boring. I mean, neither of them is really all that interesting on their own, and then you pair them up and it's like boring squared.

Castle/Beckett, I just never really got why they were together. Like they solved cases together and shit, which was great and they made for good friends but I never felt like that romance made much sense other than because he was the main guy and she was the main girl.
Kurt/Blaine on Glee, but then I didn't really care about either of them much. Same for Rachel/Finn, it mostly bored me.
Matt/Karen on Daredevil, part of it is certainly because I actually preferred the idea of Karen/Foggy but in season 2 especially I found the Matt/Karen scenes dreadfully dull.

Re: Inspired by #1
Chakotay/Seven. WTF was that even?
Robin/Ted. Not in the early seasons, but at the end. It made no sense. Robin made it clear she had no feelings for Ted, and the show made it clear why they wanted different, but equally valid things, and why they did not work as a long-term couple.
Willow/Kennedy. I don't even hate Kennedy, but I just didn't feel the chemistry. And I think Willow needed more time. It was very rushed.
Buffy/Riley. I didn't mind them in season 4. But in season 5 I really disliked Riley. Suddenly he became the guy who couldn't handle having a girlfriend stronger than him (and everyone else then blamed her for leaving, which sucked).
Emma and Hook. I don't care enough about Once anymore to anti-ship anything else. But I still hate this ship even though I don't even watch the show anymore.

(Anonymous) 2017-03-31 12:51 am (UTC)(link)Some of the smaller romantic plots in Sailor moon were better, and in the original anime my favorite couple was Haruka and Michiru.
Re: Inspired by #1
(Anonymous) 2017-03-31 01:10 am (UTC)(link)The way most (het) relationships are written in fiction is so dull and uninteresting to me. Same sex couples are sometimes better, but like the OP in #1 mentioned, a lot of times they're really stereotypical, so they're not always better.
To me, pretty much the majority of couples in most things aren't that great. Usually I see way more chemistry/interesting dynamics between characters who aren't a couple and never will be, and the couple times pairings I've shipped have actually gotten together, the writers then proceeded to destroy everything that made them interesting/made me ship them in the first place.

More general: I usually can't stand any canon couple that fits the "pair the spares" category. Especially if it's like in Harry Potter, where just absolutely everyone has to have that "married with children" ending.

(Anonymous) 2017-03-31 03:46 am (UTC)(link)Probably the one that sticks out the most though is Anna/Kristoff. I don't really dislike it, I just didn't see any chemistry at all between them.
Also rewatching recently, I didn't like House/Stacey at all. Just... the whole mess. The slap slap kiss, the infidelity, just... ugh.
Re: Inspired by #1
(Anonymous) 2017-03-31 04:06 am (UTC)(link)- Goku and Chi-Chi.
- Cyclonus and Tailgate. Kind of feels more...forced compared to, say, Chromedome and Rewind.

(Anonymous) 2017-03-31 05:30 am (UTC)(link)I've said it before. They just didn't seem to fit. Gil was so open-minded and she was so closed-minded. They didn't seem to share any common interests outside their jobs. He often looked like a deer-in-the-headlights when she was coming onto him in aggressive way. And, when they were together, they had terrible communication. I didn't think the actor chemistry was right for a romance either. Still bummed the finale was hijacked by their relationship.
