...I can kinda see it. CLAMP writes as if it's cute and normal for an adult man to be "in love with" an elementary schooler. Kodomo no Jikan goes really hard on things like the importance of setting appropriate boundaries as an expression of care, and how if a child is acting out sexually it's a sign of trauma, rather than an excuse to take advantage (or, for that matter, a moral failing on the kid's part).

The ending is squicky as hell, even as a flashforward when everyone involved is an adult. But if you make like Bunny Drop fandom and fervently pretend that part didn't happen, there's a lot to like about the rest.
