What's the weather like in your area?

(Anonymous) 2017-04-05 11:55 pm (UTC)(link)
Right now it's just nice out with a few wind gusts here and there, but we're expecting a big storm to roll in tonight and into tomorrow. Right now they're saying thunderstorms with hail and possible tornadoes. I am not from the area and am not quite as cool about the tornado thing as some of the people I've met here. Work should definitely be interesting. I work with kids so keeping the teachers informed but cool and the kids uninformed and calm is always a fun exercise.

I'm from tornado country. The thing about tornadoes is that they're unpredictable, but hit a very small relative area. One that stays on the ground for several miles is an unusual event. Stay in shelter if there's a warning, keep a radio or TV on if possible, and you'll probably be all right.

AYRT

The main issues are 1. the unpredictability. I hate not knowing. I'm from hurricane country, so I know how to prepare for that, but that's a much more solid "this is coming" event. and 2. I'm in charge of 200 children and 30 staff members and it freaks me out trying to do my job and keep track of the storm and make sure the classrooms all have their radios on and are keeping informed.

Hopefully it's just a bad thunderstorm!

Changing literally every day. This weekend was really cold and raining. Monday it was 70 and sunny. Tuesday it was cold and hailing.

This is my weather too! Monday was breezy, Tuesday was raining, today was gorgeous and tomorrow rain again.

It's real fucky. Sunny and warm one minute, passing rain and wind the next.

I live in Tornado Alley and I still get freaked out at any talk of severe thunderstorms, too. Like you said in another post, it's the unpredictability of it all, and the fact that some tornadoes can be so...intense.

Hoping that things won't get as bad as they're predicting for you guys tomorrow. Either way, though, just keep an eye on the weather (or, alternately, if looking at the weather only makes you more nervous, then obviously don't do that ;p. Watching the weather sites/TV helps me, but I can see where it might not help others) and if you know somebody who's good at trying to keep people calm, just lean on them a bit. That's what's helped me when I've freaked out during bad storms. And so long as you've got a plan in place and a good shelter to hide in, then you should be okay if worse comes to worse.

But yeah. Fingers crossed it won't come to that and the worst you get, if anything, is just a little thunder and rain :).

As for the weather here? It's in the 50s and sunny right now. Been kind of a cool spring for the most part in my neck of the woods, but they are talking possible stormy weather this weekend, so we'll see how that pans out.

We're going to be getting storms with tornadoes here too.

We're all going to die.

Overcast and warm, about 74°F or so. Supposed to rain tomorrow tho and be a bit cooler with highs in the low 60s.

Full of lies. The sun comes out, the sky is lovely and blue, I glance outside wondering if I should take a walk and see that the wind is trying to rip bushes straight out of the soil.
