Very true. Which, in my mind, makes for even more room to explore. Because so much of Tolkien is in broad strokes and so much is left to the imagination. And some of the empty spaces can be filled with sex.

"Word of God" is quite definitive about how Elven sexuality is off-the-page. And it warms my heart to see that at least one small corner of the universe, "Word of God" is recognized as the regressive bullshit it is.

Well, my corner of the fandom ships dark lords, so we're already just fine with doing our own thing. Plus, "Word of God" in Tolkien is questionable considering how many different versions he wrote, re-wrote, edited, and wrote again. It is fairly easy to pick and choose which versions you want to be canon for yourself.
