I would describe it as bittersweet. I thought it was okay, with the implication that Isla's happiness didn't depend on a reality in which she ends up with Will or even knows him much at all, but the idea that some young woman he meets on a ferry becomes his raison d'etre in a way because she's just too pretty to be suicidal or whatever, I don't know.

But boy, was Jason Segel miscast in this.
