... nah. Sorry, but nah, I just don't buy that. The director had a choice of where (and who) the camera focuses upon during Sansa's rape and they chose to do a close up of Theon's face. They could've chosen:

* Ramsay's face to highlight the gleeful brutality of his character
* hands clenching sheets to put us on the periphery of the act without showing the act itself
* a pullback shot of, I dunno, the window of the bedchamber with Sansa's screams in the background
* a shot of the other children's direwolves in a forest somewhere, throwing back their heads and howling like there's a disturbance in the Force

Etc.

What did they pick? Theon's face, for the purpose of showing how Sansa's rape affected him. It wasn't by accident, it wasn't because Theon's face is the only available alternative to showing a graphic rape.

I interpreted it as highlighting that what's happening to her is horrific and hard to watch. Kinda like how the audience feels. Maybe you need to stop watching shit through a batshit feminist pov, anon.

DA. I do like your interpretation, it's nice and subtle. But, Given how victims of rape have been treated and silenced over the years...it just leaves a bad taste in my mouth to have the focus taken off the victim.

(Not that I think that you in any shape or form support silencing rape victims, anon. Just my opinion.)

NAYRT

pointing out the obvious instead of touting some flimsy "discretion shots" nonsense = "batshit feminist pov"

LOL, okay.

"it's about Theon's manpain, not a discretion shot meant to illustrate that what's happening to Sansa is too horrifying to watch!!!!" is your idea of pointing out the obvious? Maybe if you watch shit through that warped feminist lens of yours, tumblrwhale.
