Absolutely every series that people recommend I watch, evidently. lol Problem is, I get so bored during these allegedly weak first seasons that I don't get to see the allegedly amazing later seasons. Dr. Who, Merlin, Parks and Rec, etc

That's why I usually jump in later seasons, in some highly rec'd episodes or arcs. Then when I'm hooked on the characters I usually go back and re-watch from episode 1. A lot of shows take a season to really find their footing.

NAYRT

Yeah, like with AYRT's example of Parks and Rec, I actually started watching from Season 3. Once I caught up, I was invested enough in the characters that the earlier, weaker seasons were much more tolerable.

NA

You made a good call with Parks and Rec. I started from the beginning and found it almost unwatchable. But S2 was better from the very first episode, and just continued to get better throughout. Then only a month later I went back and watched S1 again and...it wasn't nearly as bad as I remembered it. It was really weird to me, because there was no way my taste had changed that much in that short a time. But it was just so much less awful than I remembered it being.

I think part of it is that if I had watched from the start, I would have been worried the whole time that Leslie's character was going to remain as obnoxious asshet was in S1. But I already knew she was going to become the lovable (but still slightly obnoxious) character of later seasons, so that anxiety wasn't there to ruin things. Also? Knowing Ben would eventually enter the picture helped a lot.
