Someone who devotes a lot of time and energy on how much they don't like a pairing. Can sometimes include writing screeds about how problematic and terrible both the ship and its shippers are, and tagging them with the pairing so that it shows up in the feeds of people who enjoy the pairing.

May or may not include devotion to a different, "pure and good" pairing.

Of course, there are some shippers who take any criticism of their favorite pairing as a "hate," and the very act of shipping a different pairing as proof that they are horrible people.

You also forgot my favorite peeve:

Deliberately mis-tagging their anti-shipper fics as shipper fics to fool "those horrible people" into reading something that trashes their favored pairing.

I just never GOT why that was a thing you'd want to do. It strikes me as a huge waste of time and effort just to needle people. I don't see what someone gets out of that.

I think they said it wrong. Anti just means someone who is openly against a ship and frequently hates on the ship or it's shippers.

- someone on the other side of a ship war from you
- someone who posts in a ship's tag about disliking the ship
- an eternal enemy who is pure evil and a complete lunatic and must be destroyed

An anti-shipper is someone who disagrees on the pairing-up of two (or more) characters.

Someone who is a more extreme antishipper might display negative qualities regarding a ship they don't like such as talking badly about it unnecessarily and the people who ship it, e.g. calling them bad people, saying they have shit taste, and in some cases even setting up an anti-ship fanclub (lol). I feel those actions are what give anti-shippers their bad reputation.

No. It's someone who goes out of their way to antagonize the shippers.

Only if you define "antagonize" as "actively ships something I don't ship, and maybe wrote meta about why they like their ship better/why they don't like my ship on their personal blog once".

I don't deny that some people can be real assholes in shipwars, but just as many of those people are OTPers who flip the fuck out if they encounter a pairing that runs counter to their pet ship in the wild as are any other demographic. And part of that flipping the fuck out is screaming "anti" at anyone whose answer to "do you ship X/Y" is "nah, I like Y/Z".
