I'm always finding new authors, if only because I'll come across someone I've never shared a fandom with before. And I am not always looking for mature plot heavy novel length stories, there are so many other options with fanfic! I like them all!

If you think about it your sample is biased. You only know about the fanwriters you've read, how do you know the people writing for fandoms or dynamics you're not interested in aren't just as good?
