I just wish monster-fic spent more time exploring how monstrous the monster actually was. Like, I want loving descriptions of the love interest running his/her fingers over sharp teeth sticking out of it's gaping sarlac mouth. Or finding the ticklish spot between it's exposed ribs. Or whatever. And the inverse, too, where the flayed nightmare horror is fascinated by the human's lack of a carapace or thinks about how awesome it is that the human is all soft and furry. And how they're barely sexually compatible because humans aren't equipped to have spikes inside them or whatever.

Instead it's always about how the monster has a really huge monster cock and maybe some tentacles and is really good at fucking. Or else the physical side of things is totally brushed aside in favor of fairytale True Love. ;_;

For me personally I generally like my monster/human pairings to be at least somewhat sexually compatible otherwise I don't get my quotient of smut, but I also like reading about the stuff you're talking about. I was tickled with the Garrus/Shepard romance in Mass Effect for this specific reason, with Garrus awkwardly complimenting Shepard on her "supportive hips" because the standards of beauty between the species are just so different.

They also have to take special meds because otherwise their bodily fluids are toxic to one another too.

But yeah, I also really like descriptions about how inhuman the monsters are too.
