Honestly the patriarchy questions are difficult to answer. Like there's the whole debate of whether or not the patriarchy is sociobiological or socioeconomical. And if that's the case for either the phrase "constructed by the patriarchy" implies intent instead of the natural consequent of the system in place.

"The mainstream cultural conceptions surrounding male-female dating and intercourse are constructed by the patriarchy to satisfy men’s desires."
So is this question basically asking if I believe that how most guy/girl dating and sex goes ends up pleasing the guy because of the cultural expectations in place? Otherwise I'm lost.

I got to question two and was stumped.

"The emancipation of women is one of the crowning glories of Western civilization."

If I disagree with that statement, will the test take me as meaning that I don't think women have been fully emancipated, or will it take me as meaning that emancipation of women was a YUUUGE mistake?

I think it will take it as emancipation isn't the 'crowning glory'.

I had the same problem. Also, "Western" does that mean we ignore what other cultures have done? What era does "western civilisation" cover? And when exactly were women emancipated? Are we talking the right to vote? The birth control pill? Roe V Wade?

I went mildly disagree, which I'm sure gave me traditionalist points, but I think we now have the internet. World wide dissemination of knowledge trumps any once social class being elevated.

I got:
71% liberal feminist
68% Marxist feminist (which baffles me since I'm politically opposed to communism and Marxism, which I find extremist and destructive to the individual, but "Marxist feminist" probably has a specific definition I'm not familiar with)
58% radical feminist
53% cultural feminist

Don't know exactly how they decide these categories and feel that the test could have been a lot more nuanced but I am probably way overthinking a simple silly internet quiz lol.

tbh I'm not surprised that "liberal feminist" was my top result though, it's pretty darn accurate for my views

From the quiz:

Marxist Feminism holds that the mode of production in capitalist societies is organized in a way that favors men’s abilities over women’s. As opposed to Radical Feminists, who see patriarchy as the source of gender inequality, Marxist Feminists see capitalism as the cause. Marxist Feminists argue that the structures of capitalist economies coerce women into assuming responsibility for unpaid domestic tasks (such as homemaking and child-rearing) while leaving men free to earn money in the public sphere. Gender equality can therefore never be achieved in a capitalist economy.

While Marxist Feminism was originally about economic revolution, more recent writers have changed their focus from economic issues to cultural ones, placing more of an emphasis on the fight for social justice than the fight to topple capitalism.

Not just women, but also people of color, sexual minorities, and transgendered people have become focal points for Marxist Feminism in recent years. Intersectional Feminism is essentially a fusion of Marxist Feminist and Cultural Feminist ideas.

I definitely felt like the test could have been more nuanced as well if only because there were some I really felt like I could not answer unless I were given more options as to where the statement was coming from.

There were a handful I didn't answer, but

82% Marxist
74% Radical
70% Cultural
68% Liberal

16% Traditionalism

I don't know that I'd agree with those results, but that's what they are

Re: Feminism Test

(Anonymous) 2017-04-18 04:03 am (UTC)(link)
75% Liberal
69% Marxist
53% Cultural
51% Radical
27% Traditionalism

That equals 275%.

I didn't understand some of the statements so gave it my best guess:

21% traditionalism
68% liberal
64% radical
76% marxist
64% cultural

I don't really understand the results either. or what my scores me. or the paragraphcs explaining what each feminism is cause i kinda disagreed with most. idk.

55% Traditionalism (Although I did notice some ambiguity in some questions that I think were supposed to suggest traditionalism, but were phrased in a very odd way)

83% Liberal Feminism (Yay)

24% Radical Feminism (WTF. Maybe I am The Lesbian Futurist after all?)

35% Marxist Feminist (Really? I didn't spot any marxism in there at all.)

23% Cultural Feminism.

Hang on, of all the answers posted so far, I have both the highest Liberal score, and the highest traditionalist Score.

How the fuck does that work. Aren't they mutually exclusive?

Also, all you people posting your results without your traditionalist score: You fucking cowards (Not that I really blame you. I was scared too, but really whats the worst that can happen to you?)

Re: Feminism Test

(Anonymous) 2017-04-18 12:27 pm (UTC)(link)
Lol, I didn't post Traditionalist because it was so low I figured it didn't count. It was like 10% or something. (I'm the first anon that replied to the thread.)

I chose my answers in a way that I was almost surprised that the end result wasn't "You are not a feminist at all"...
