Highly inaccurate historical fiction seriously skewed understanding of Chinese history since people took Romance of the Three Kingdoms as history texts. At least when people nowadays write stuff based off the books it's generally played with to the point where nobody could really confuse it for fact (Cao Cao teaming up with Oda Nobunaga and Achilles? Yeah not really in danger of screwing up anyone's history lessons).
