I broke a big plate today. I opened the dishwasher and it just flipped out and smashed on the floor. Also, I shouted 'Shit!' really loudly, so that was bad too (I don't think any customers heard, but who knows).
To make it worse, not half an hour before the chef emphasised to me that the crockery wasn't cheap and I was to be careful.

I'm in the second month of a three month trial, and I don't think they'll keep me after. Mainly because I never seem to be working fast enough, even though I never actually stop? And they never tell me how to do things faster?
This is the first work I've had in three years. I don't think I can handle losing this job, even if my boss is a twat.

Arrgh, that sucks, Anon.

If they really are pushing you to be faster, call 'em on it. Tell them 'okay, I want to, what am i doing wrong that slows me down?' If they can't help you, then yeah, they're just being asshats. If they *can*, that looks good on you, that you're 'showing initiative', as they say.
