It's interesting that you view her as a sort of representative of "innocence", because I saw it kind of differently. I think that Miura sort of wrote her out of the story as part of Guts' pain, and she was there more as aphysical representation of what had happened then as a character. But at the same time, she's set up as the True Love or something akin to that... and Berserk has been taking a different direction lately.
So I feel like Miura is kind of stuck, because at the end of the day, he sexualized Casca's rape. Only now he kind of wants to find a way for her to get over it, and he's stuck, because that means admitting that the rape was "wrong", and that the sexualization of the rape was "wrong". It's asking for a rape-recovery storyline, but I don't think Miura is nuanced enough to write something like that, so that's why we're getting what we have now.

I'm a little morbidly curious, personally, because I'm not convinced he'll actually do a good job of it, haha. Even though I like Berserk.

I kinda took the depiction of Casca's rape in a different way. I think Miura drew it intentionally to be titallating as a way to reflect the kind of discord that Casca herself is experiencing: she's being raped, and she's climaxing over and over. And we, as the readers, are reading this beautifully drawn hentai manga scene, with Guts' reactions showing the absolute horror and desperation of the situation.

What did you think of Guts' rape-recovery storyline?

I didn't realize a new chapter was out. Man that was brutal. Great imagery, but damn...

Is that in the new chapter? That is brutal.

Oh, Casca.
