I largely agree, even knowing people who embody the worst of Tumblr culture IRL and wanting to smack some sense into them on a regular basis. I think it's that the harm that they do is very limited to fandom, activist, and youth circles, whereas the backlash against it is the kind of sentiment that currently has its tiny, tiny fingers on the nuclear button. Both are annoying af; only one is actively dangerous to real people.
