Favourite Food

(Anonymous) 2017-04-22 01:19 am (UTC)(link)
I have a date with someone I really like, and I said I'd cook for them because I love to cook. What's everyone's favourite food/meal to eat with other people? I would like some inspiration c:

For a date, not finger foods. I like parmesan crusted chicken, vegetables of some sort (brussel sprouts?), and some rice.

Pasta! Any type of pasta.

Make some good-ass chicken - like, sauteed with some kind of sauce - and some jambalaya with some good spice. Jambalaya is very satisfying and rich, but it doesn't require using a ton of protein and it doesn't have to be greasy.

I agree with good-ass chicken. I like making my uncle's version of coq au vin, which is so easy and tasty it should be a sin. Guests think I actually put in effort, which is a plus.

How comfortable are you with this person? If not 100% comfortable, I would avoid making dishes that are likely to make you messy (like short ribs) or get stuck in your teeth (anything involving diced spinach). :) Other than that, I like eating food people make for me that has a family connection with them -- it's usually delicious and you learn something about the cook while you're eating it.

My favorite dish to make others is this badass beef stew that my grandmother used to make.
