My dad had the hiccups for 8 days after my brother was born. IIRC, they went away after he was given an IV muscle relaxant.

Welcome to my life. I'll start hiccoughing in the middle of a meeting and my boss just looks at me all, "Really?" because they're loud, and painful, and violent, and go on forever.

I know we're not supposed to encourage suicide here, but half an hour of hiccups? I'd be tempted if it were me.

I think there was a person who developed hiccups and had them for the rest of their life. Half an hour sounds managable compared to that (still sucks, though).

Not manageable to me. I have the big noisy fuckers. The kind that makes my entire upper body shudder.

I can barely do the 10mins variety before I'm thinking about swallowing corks

Presuming I can get a minute alone somewhere private, I make myself gag and they almost always go away.

I'd be curious to know if anybody else uses this extremely simple hiccup cure.

Digital rectal stimulation is the only proven cure for hiccups so far.
