The major mistake you're making, an it's one I keep seeing people making, is assuming the backlash is against actual social justice topics instead of just the rabid SJW rethoric. It's usually not. And the thing is that the kind of mentality you see on tumblr is seeking into real life atm, and it's generally in ways that are counterproductive to actual social justice activism.

There is some conservative backlash going on.

But, I also know a fair number of LGBTQ folks like myself who packed up for Imzy or moderated Mastodon instances.
