Think about child abuse. Women kinda have the lead in that, but no-one care as much about women abusing kids as men abusing kids, because when men do it it shows what vile dangerous animals they are and when women do it it's just a tragedy. I think you gotta be a next level misogynist to think women are weaker than children, but people don't get quite as angry at women who hurt children as they do when men hurt children.

(Anonymous) 2017-04-22 11:59 am (UTC)(link)I disagree about women are looked at as "better" in child abuse cases and that it is misandry. Child abuse by the different genders is perceived differently, but I think equally bad, and I also think misogyny is at play in how it is perceived.
In my job as a teacher, having to go to child abuse seminars regularly, I definitely hear more about women abusers, even if I do hear about both. If you mean society at large, not just by the child protection services, I still disagree. When a woman abuses a child, there is often a "the woman was supposed to be a caretaker, how could she possibly hurt a child!" aspect to it. Due to our society, women are much more expected to be caretakers (despite the fact they obviously don't have to be; my sister's husband does a great job watching their baby while she works) and thus going against that seems shocking and awful to society generally.

I mean, better might be the wrong term, but more... excused? More.... I don't know less like "Monster!!" and more like "How shocking!" you know? and it's not just Misandry behind this difference. Not just misogyny either.
