Re: Inspired by #3 pt. 2

I think both Chris Hemsworth and Tom Hiddleston were risks in the first Thor movie. Neither of them were names back then and even doing a Thor movie could have gone horribly because Thor has not been all that popular in recent years (even if it's an Avengers lead up, even Avengers could have been a risk.) But I think they both ended up fitting their respective parts.

Weirdly one of the big names who *should* have been less risky, Natalie Portman, was one of the ones who ended up being the wrong casting decision.

Agreed. I like Natalie Portman, but that role in no way required a high level of acting ability and it DID call for someone who 1) had more chemistry with Hemsworth and 2) looked like they actually wanted to be there.

Yeah I have a friend who really likes her and I had to explain to him that I don't dislike her but she was wrong for both the reasons you just listed. There was absolutely no chemistry between her and Hemsworth and it made any part of either Thor movie dealing with them a chore to watch.

It's especially easy to zero in on her because I felt like most of the other actors were at least trying.
