Teen Wolf was the Scott, Stiles, Allison, and Lydia show for me. All the rest, including Derek, became very meh.

Derek is so, so beautiful, but I really hated his character. I loved Scott and Stiles, they had great chemistry together. I loved Lydia (but not Alison). Surprisingly, one of my favourites was Jackson. I really missed him when he was gone.

Rumor is he's coming back.

For the last part, season 6b. Of course, there are a lot of former cast members rumored to be making appearances.

TW would have been great *with* Derek if they'd bothered to use him for more than stupid plot-explanation crap (why werewolves do a, b, c) or as eye-candy for torture-porn.

I enjoyed the show up to about season four, then I just gave up. All the 'True Alpha' crap and bevy of too-hip-for-you new teen creatures was just...boring.

Season 4 was appalling, but I'm they really got their act together with season 5. It had some decent plots in it and focused more on the stronger characters lk Scott, Stiles and Lydia. Plus Malia became a much more rounded character. Unfortunately Kira stays pretty much the same.

I'm one of those fans that actually think the show would have been more interesting told from the Hales, and Derek's, point of view. I liked Scott in the very beginning, but ugh at all the later on. I do think Jeff Davis had no idea what to do with Derek's character other than a general foil for the first bit. So even though he turned out to be my favorite, I can definitely see your pov.

Same here, except that I still really liked Scott and would have just liked the show to actually go further into the werewolf mythology with Derek+Scott in tow, but it didn't so whatever.

OP agree completely. I loved him in the first two seasons but then they just seemed to use him only for Scott worship and fanservice. It was painful to watch.

I stopped watching when Derek was written out because that just wasn't Teen Wolf for me anymore.

Can't say I share the sentiment as he was my fave but considering how he was less and less of a character a more a plot device as the show went on I can see your point.

I can't really tell. I dislike the younger kids so much that it's hard to know if it matters so much that Derek's not there. I'm a Stiles/Derek shipper too, but it's definitely so much better in fanon than in canon.

I think the biggest problem was when Davies was forced to drop all of his plots by the new production team--which is why 4 marked a big change in the series (New production team or by so many actors leaving). The Hales had a pretty good story, but without a natural conclusion it was kind of weird watching the plot line be "Derek's mistakes screw over Scott and co" even after Derek was relieved of Brooding Bad Guy status.

I liked the show with Derek, mostly because I really don't care about the baby betas (I like them as baby betas, but not as vehicles for actual plot. It became pretty clear to me in seasons 3-4 that the writers/producers never actually understood why their show became popular).
