Though I must confess I know nothing about Twilight, your comment on Harry Potter made me laugh out loud. Im 47 and I have spent a lot of time thinking, writing fanfic, and reading, when it comes to that fandom.

I get a feeling you must be a rather young person.

okay? you being an outlier doesn't disprove OP's point.

The amount of butthurt Harry Potter fans seem to experience over being reminded that not everyone is as big a fan as they are never ceases to amuse me.

Not everyone is a Harry Potter fan, sure, but it's also not news that a bunch of adults liked it.

I mean, if everyone in someone's fic is a fan, that would be weird and unrealistic (unless it's set at a con, or something). But it's not at all implausible that a forty or fifty-something might be in to Potter and have opinions on it. And the Twilight books were frequently derided as 'mommy porn' at the time they came out.

I'd agree that you probably have to do more work to justify a forty year old male Twilight fan, though (unless being played for laughs, of course).

I get the feeling you must have only discovered fandom through Harry Potter.

I and my wife are both 47, and we're both big Harry Potter fans. Heck, my wife doesn't generally read books, and the only ones she's actually read are Harry Potter and the Da Vinci Code stuff.
