To be quite honest, I couldn't bring myself to care about a single character's death in this movie at all. I didn't even think it was a bad movie, I just found it and the characters in it bland and forgettable.

Whereas I welled up for three of the major deaths in this movie, and I very rarely cry during death scenes. In fact I usually find them OTT and cliche. But in Rogue One I found each one moving and sorrowful in its own way. Not trying to invalidate your own experience of the movie - just putting out a contrasting experience.

Oh no, sure. I absolutely acknowledge that plenty people felt differently about it. The sizeable fandom for the movie says it all - I just really couldn't connect to any of the characters, so I'm not even tempted to, for example, participate in the fandom for this movie. But if others have fun (or are sad about) it, that's great.
