[Jesse Eisenberg as Lex Luthor in Batman vs. Superman]

I totally agree. I was okay on him until I saw BvS, mostly because I loved Zombieland so much. But I think him in this movie might've ruined even that for me. He was so wrong for the role (and the character was so terribly written). It's especially annoying because Lex in Smallville was so damn charismatic.

He is just so incredibly ugly. His face looks so weirdly deformed.

I don't know if he was the worst thing for me in BvS, but I certainly didn't like him.

Batman vs Superman made a lot of mistakes, and he was definitely one of them.

Like who the hell pitched Eisenberg and can someone be fired for it? It was all wrong.

Everyone's trying to clone Heath Ledger's Joker and repeat that lightning in a bottle. Only way to do that is kill the actor before the movie opens though, and even I don't think Hollywood and DC are quite that desperate or depraved... Yet.

(Anonymous) 2017-04-29 11:23 pm (UTC)(link)
I don't get why they thought for one second Eisenberg would help them capture that though. Maybe in another role, but as a Luthor/main antagonist? Nah.

Ledger could at least be somewhat Joker like even if the Nolan universe movies weren't very Batman. But I do think DC is trying to recapture all the critical praise they got with the Nolan movies while gaining the Marvel franchise money and they're just doing it all wrong.

But OP, he's ~award-winning!

No, I agree. He's a ridiculously overhyped actor and BVS only proved it.

(Anonymous) 2017-04-29 10:43 pm (UTC)(link)
I think I sort of get what they were trying for in that movie, but it was a terrible idea and... yeah. He was super duper annoying.

(Anonymous) 2017-04-29 11:30 pm (UTC)(link)
This is how I've felt about him since The Social Network, welcome to the club OP.

(Anonymous) 2017-04-29 11:34 pm (UTC)(link)
I thought he was good in that scene where he makes Superman kneel, but the rest was painfully awful. And his laugh, ugh.

(Anonymous) 2017-04-30 01:03 am (UTC)(link)
...I mean, you're talking about Lex Luthor, I think the managed to nail that, for all of Lex being hot shit, I always felt like punching him in his face.

I'd say he's doing his job well in this case. If you DON'T want to punch Lex Luthor in the face, something's wrong.

(Anonymous) 2017-04-30 03:53 am (UTC)(link)
Yeah, this is true. But there's also a big difference between hating a villain because of the terrible things they do, and hating one because they're just annoying, regardless of their motives.

I mean, which do you think makes for a stronger character?

(Anonymous) 2017-05-01 04:36 am (UTC)(link)
Exactly. Kind of weird how at least two people in this thread think that super annoying = super villain.

(Anonymous) 2017-04-30 04:19 pm (UTC)(link)
Seriously? I'd say that if the first thing you think of when you see Lex Lutor is "annoying little prick needs a punch," something's wrong. Part of what makes Lex Luthor a threat is that he cloaks his crazynuts megalomania in teflon respectability. Eisenberg Lex is basically the Riddler with money.

I don't know about worst, but he reminds me of every lame 90s show teen villain cliché.

Lol, he was the only thing I found interesting about the film. And I usually am extremely irritated by that actor.
