In above commenter's comment, they SHOULD be posted as separate works. I'd be annoyed as a reader if I clicked on a multi-chaptered thing and it turned out to be twenty only mildly related things.

If they are about the same characters or pairings, KEEP IT IN ONE STORY. You can make 'Destiel Drabbles' or whatever you want to call them.

So if you legit had 20 one shots that just happened to feature the same pairing or characters, you'd post it as one multi-chaptered thing, and then have to have 500 tags because they're all only related by the pairing/character?

As a reader, if I searched a pairing or specific tag and then had to skim 20 chapters to find the ONE fic I wanted to read, I'd be annoyed as hell and just backspace and not read.

Yes, that's super annoying. I don't click on those on principle, even if there was that one fic I'd be interested in.

But people seem to like this style of posting. Those fic collections clog up the top positions in pretty much all the big fandoms.

Ugh, no! Same character or pairing, if they're not related at all, they should be posted as separate works. Nothing is more annoying than wading through a collection of unrelated fics to find the few things you want to read. Some authors are nice enough to post an index to make the search easier, but it's still clunky and not what chaptered fic is meant to be.
