I see it differently, in that I think would be unequivocally better in that situation to survive and go to to the colony, than live out my days with only one person to interact with, ever. Then again, that is also an idea that could have been explored, the morality of leaving him to isolation. And my fridge logic idea of "what if they split time in the sleep pod?" Can't quite remember the time frame, but splitting it 50/50 and with the advanced medical care, they could reasonably both be old but alive at the colony.

Anyway, I do agree, it's still a movie about isolation, just not a very interesting one, to me. It could have got much deeper into it, and accepted it's moral toughness better.
