I think I agree with you, OP, except that I can't even parse the quote at the top of your secret.

(Can someone translate?)

(Anonymous) 2017-05-03 12:25 am (UTC)(link)
"Don't follow me if you're good friends with someone who identifies as one of the characters below. It's fine if you're just mutual followers but don't interact frequently, but if you're friendly with them and talk to them regularly, I'll probably end up blocking you."

AYRT

O.o

I can't even...

Don't follow if you're good friends with people who identify as any of these following characters. It's okay if you're just mutuals (both follow each other) but if you talk to them or something I'll probably end up blocking you I dunno.

So basically they'll block you if you're friends with people who are also kin with these characters.

It took me a couple of read-throughs. I guess this is a sign that I am old and un-hip.

I don't get fictive kin. I understand being attached to a character, even if it's a little extreme, but everything about the culture sounds like an excuse to be a childish asshole.

People who try to take over fictional characters are weird. I don't interact with kin much but this reminds me of cosplayers who feel like they are the one and only true cosplayer of a character.

The only time you can take "ownership" of a character is when you roleplay, and even then that's just for your specific roleplay group.

(Anonymous) 2017-05-03 02:00 am (UTC)(link)
Yeah, I agree with that.

Screaming at the top of your lungs that you have international perpetual dibs on a given fictional character aught to be punished by three weeks in the locked ward at least, IMHO. Whatever happened to just enjoying RPG sessions and TAKING TURNS, FFS?

[shrug] It seems like one of those things where people are bringing identity politics into situations where identity politics are irrelevant. That and they're just taking themselves far too seriously. Mental illness and emotional crap probably has something to do with it, too.

Hilda and Moon would never!

(Anonymous) 2017-05-03 03:26 am (UTC)(link)
Moon would just stand there with that vacant smile.

I started reading this secret and assumed they hated these characters and wanted nothing to do with anyone who liked them. Then I read the rest, and yipes.

I assume (and hope) this is a very young person who will grow out of pretending to actually be a fictional character within a few years. But yeah, that's really obnoxious.
