I think the problem with vague secrets is that it doesn't always feel universal, sometimes it can but other times it's just hard to really comment when you don't have any clue what OP is talking about.

Just knowing a fandom can open up the conversation a lot because even if someone disagrees with you, they'll have more of a clue about what you're saying.
