Yeah, I do like some aspects of old movies. Like how the dialogue tends toward being snappy and refined rather than trying to be more realistic like modern movie dialogue. It can be almost poetic at times, and I like that. 'Network', while not an OLD old movie, was sorta on the cusp of this transition, and is an excellent example of the type of witty, poetic dialogue I'm talking about.

But old movies had their share of issues too. Written in a time when racism and sexism were more prevalent, it can be hard to overlook. I can definitely see why POC and women might stay away from movies past a certain era. I'm a white woman and I cringe at certain parts of my favorite old black and white movie ('Harvey' if you were curious).

I wouldn't say I look down on people who don't like old movies, but I do think it's a little silly to hate entire decades of film en masse without giving it a fair shot.

I just remembered my other favorite old movie, 'Seven Samurai', is also horribly sexist and cringey. So yeah.
