Other people must have experienced this too. The WTF moment when you receive an invitation to a pyramid scheme "success seminar" or your ex's wedding.

Well, I received an invitation from a professor to an STD Conference once.

... I realized it was the (unfortunate) initials of a school organization I was in.

Probably the weddings of relatives who outright hated me. I'm guessing Southern Manners made it more of a faux pas to exclude blood relatives even if they're hated? They spelled my name wrong though, so I'd be sure not to think they were being too friendly.

It was ages ago, but a girl who'd started dating a friend of mine invited me and my BF over for pizza and I accepted thinking, cool, we can get to know her better. Then she says oh, and bring $10 to chip in for the pizza, and I thought, well, okay? Like the first e-mail made it sound like you guys were throwing a party, but now we're going to pay for our own food? *sigh* Fine.

Then she wrote AGAIN and said oh, btw, a friend of ours is going to give a little talk about this great product and you don't HAVE to buy anything but blah blah blah. I don't remember what the product was, but it was obviously one of those annoying pyramid schemes or some crap like that. I told her rather bluntly, thanks, but no thanks.
