What characters in a pairing you enjoy seem to get the short end of the stick in fanfic?

John Watson is rarely the focus in John/Sherlock fic.

Leonard McCoy is almost never the focus of ANY Star Trek fics regardless of pairing (or gen). Which sucks because he is my favorite. :(

Super specific, but Steve Rogers is rarely the character in a pairing who is the one being cared for. He is generally taking care of Tony or Bucky when shipped. But there are some nice gen fics where Steve is the one being cared for.

Harry Potter tends to get the short end of the stick in terms of characterization in a lot of slash pairings. He's suddenly super submissive and also nothing like canon!Harry. I wish there were more slash fics, even ones pairing Harry with someone older, where he was closer to his canon self.

LoTR crossover

For some reason the other day, I was thinking about people eating hobbits. It might have happened in the books once (Lotho... maybe). They'd be fat enough, and not too big. But maybe it would be mean, unless you stuck to eating Sackville-Bagginses.

Then I though, maybe elves would be a better choice, morally. They get reincarnated, so eating one would just be sending it off to a nice life in Valinor. Of course, catching an elf would be difficult, so you'd have to get them to agree to it. Maybe present it as a service. Want to go to Valinor, but you don't have a ship, can't/don't want to build one, and no one will take you? We'll send you there with no fuss, no ships necessary! Sure, there's a stopover in the halls of Mandos, but think how much money you'll save.

But they're probably too big for one person or family, though. But that just means you could sell some of it! Elf sausage, elf bacon, elf-liverwurst, the possibilities are endless.

This made me think of something from an entirely different fandom. A shmoo. Shmoos (or shmoon) can taste like almost any kind of meat depending on how you cook them, they're reproduce asexually and prolifically, and they want to be eaten!

So, anyway, one could possibly make elves fit the role of shmoos. Possibly, you could say it's a moral obligation for them. Do you think this would be a good business in Middle -Earth? Would people buy fried elf or elf-stew or elf sandwiches? How would it taste?

I don't think they would eat elves. People generally have a harder time eating animals/creatures they can communicate and be friends with.

Though....dwarves might eat elves.

"this is bad don't read", although I think most people using that one are probably kids, so I generally let it go. It does tell me the fic's probably not good, though. And they're fishing for comments.

Trope vs. Trope

Finally watched the long video on Born Sexy Yesterday, for characters who are essentially children in a sexy adult body and their lack of experience with anything is treated as endearing and sexy. It's usually applied to women, like in Splash, or the 5th Element.

And immediately thought of the trope's counterpart, body of a child but mind of an adult.

So my initial thought was, which is creepier? Do you find one ok and one creepy? Both creepy? Both ok? I am curious!

Fandoms That You're Disturbed to See NSFW Content For

Hypocritical? Maybe. But surely everyone has one fandom that they get weirded out by to see porn of.

For me, it's Calvin and Hobbes or Winnie the Pooh. Harvest Moon/Story of Seasons is a bit of a borderline case for me, though there's actual sexual innuendo in some of the games and the dating sim plays a big part in the series, so it makes sense.
