Kinda hard when they're all dead. Dummies who insist neo-nazis are the same thing and apply to any and every person they disagree with however.

What - to you - is the significance of the distinction between Nazis, neo-Nazis, and fascists? And what is the fruit of that distinction - how is it politically significant, how does it influence the way that we should think about these groups and act with regards to them?

Because it seems to me that, while there are differences between those 3 groups, I don't think the differences are all that huge or significant.

Pretty sure several historians would disagree.

I'm not saying there are no differences whatsoever. obviously there are significant differences. Fascism is an ideology, the Nazis were a particular fascist political party and regime, neo-Nazis are militant extreme-right fascists who invoke Nazi imagery.

I'm asking about the political significance of those distinctions, because anon's post implied that the distinction was important and eliding it was particularly bad from a contemporary political perspective.

It is technically incorrect and there are several things that make these distinctions an important matter... IF you're talking about this in a scholarly or scientific discussion. But I personally agree that in colloquial speech, calling them all Nazis is serviceable enough.

i mean one group is basically on life support, another a fringe group with limited political influence, and the final one a bastardized term that's lost any significant meaning because of morons who fling it at everything. It's essentially the left's version of commie.

Where do you live? Honest question because in both the US and western Europe Nazis have become a really big problem again (even if they mostly don't use that term openly)

What nearly dead 90 year olds who are internationally wanted have been politically active? Or people who self identify as (neo) Nazis? I have not seen either.

I'm willing to bet this is the same anon as the thread starter, but if you're actually being serious: is it nice and cozy under that rock?

I have a feeling you have never punched someone in your life.

This is the only day that's reminded of that, or of that I never punched a Nazi in my entire life, or any of the other people I think deserved to be punched or even straight-up fucking murdered.

I would very much like it if you and your fellows would stop putting me in the position where I feel I have to defend Nazis.
