Dumb things you worry about

the dumbest worries

I feel like I've honest to god gotten more stupid as I've left school. I was never very studious, but having stuff that I had to force myself to recite in a certain time frame at least made me feel like I was doing something and maybe somewhat competent at something. All I do now is veg out by refreshing the same few tabs and maybe play some vidya or rot my brain out with (man)children's entertainment. I haven't critically thought or truly applied effort about something in years.

Adding to this, I remember in high school this one chick said she listened to music when she was tired of thinking and that was completely unfathomable to me. Like how could you not think about stuff? There's so much out there to learn and so much we don't understand. Now I totally feel that.

I feel this. I definitely feel like I've forgotten so much since I've left school and there are things that I know I'm worse at (formal writing and math.) I feel like my vocabulary has shrunk considerably as well.

I used to wonder how young people (teenagers) could sound so intelligent when they're speaking online and now I realize it's because that's when you really learn to speak and write eloquently, and meanwhile I'm just getting dumber by the second lol.

social interactions.

my brain is broken and it kinda stinks. just, after any significant interaction with another human being, it decides to worry about them hating me. i don't like it much at all.

Calling people to ask questions or make appointments. Am I annoying them? Do I sound stupid asking this?
I know that they probably answer the phone so many times a day that it's all normal stuff for them, but I still overthink it.

Being accused of lying because I said something that contradicts something I said earlier and forgot about. Thanks for reminding me, secret 8.

The root of it is actually an online test I had to take to get a job, where they ask you the same questions phrased different ways to see how consistent your answers are. It's a very well known type of test and has been rightfully criticized for the kind of manipulation it pulls, but the fact is you're seen as a liar who can't be trusted on the job you're applying for if you answer inconsistently.

Falling out of love with my boyfriend. People make it sound so easy sometimes, maybe it could happen to me?

Anxiety, so my brain is exceptionally good at coming up with implausible scenarios. What if I left the door to the laundry room open? And the washer open to let it air out? And what if a cat somehow got into it, managed to get the lid down, and the washer started on its own? That would be awful, I should worry about it.
