Except...that's not how it works at all. Sry.

Fiction=/=Reality. Period.

Fiction isn't reality, but it does have a relation to reality that we can sensibly understand and talk about, the same way that we can sensibly talk about anything else that people say. Sometimes, that relation is political, or politically significant, and that's okay to talk about. The idea of treating - for instance - The Fountainhead or The Turner Diaries, or even something like Gone With The Wind, as though they had nothing to do with politics or reality is absurd.

I passionately agree with this comment. Well said anon. :)

Look I ain't talking about things that are obviously set in charged political settings.

I'm talking about fucking fanfic. Most of which is just plain old fluff, angst, smut, gen fic, etc.

Fiction ain't fucking reality. And the Tumblerina shits need to learn that and fucking quick.

It is impossible to create fiction in a void away from reality. Period.

Well congratulations for breaking the laws of physics, but in this universe things don't spontaneously pop into existence.

Especially not FANwork. I mean, I've seen fanart and -fics based on just promo art or a teaser, but they're still based on things that exist and have some ties to reality.
