This is something my shrink & I talk about (and by talk about, I mean, it's a suggestion she makes that routinely goes nowhere) because neither one of us can really, truly come up with a reliable, sustainable alternative.

...You could try joining a local book club? Or, if you're religious, a Bible study or appropriate alternative for non-Christian religions. Doing volunteer work? See if there's a knitting circle near you?
